A Film Analysis
Part 1: The House Part 2: The Curve Part 3: The Noise Part 4: The Flood Part 5: The Last One
Is the recent film released by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady, Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground productions a story about America’s past and more importantly – is the film also laying out the plans for its future?
First Theme: Light and Dark
The theme of Light barely visible in a sea of darkness can be an obvious theme referencing the amount of truth that is currently available in a world filled with lies.
Second Theme: Inside vs. Outside
The above shot of the film clearly shows a divide between white characters and two black characters. However, what is interesting to note is that the actual residents of the Home – are outside looking in – trying to get back into their original home. The current occupants are not only skeptical of the visitors’ claims of their rightful ownership to the home (Homeland?) and are hesitant to let them in.
Could this dynamic actually be an illustration of America’s past racial divide as well as British Imperialism? There was a reference to Mesa-American traditions when the white couple saw two deer in their backyard. If this story is a fable of America then occupancy of land and rightful ownership is certainly a curious theme to place front and center in the film.
Third Theme: Above Ground and Below Ground
If the film is truly about America as the World to be left behind then showing imagery and plot relating to its history seems relevant. Once the Scotts are allowed entry into the Home – they have to literally beg and even pay – to become occupants in their actual home. Does this sound familiar as it relates to America’s past displacing natives from their homeland?
It is worth noting how the Scotts’ must accept that they are second class citizens in their own home. These images and the plotting of how characters are placed seems apparent and obvious if we view the film as a fable or, story about America and the American experience. It is also worth observing how the room separating the two families’ is an empty family room with an Emergency bulletin showing in darkness. Is this empty room a sign of a broken family – divided by class? Or a broken America – divided by both race and class?
Fourth Theme: Innocence or, Ignorance?
I found it curious to observe how the adults in the film remark how the children don’t seem to care or express any real concern over what is occurring on a larger scale around them in the world. Is this a sign of delusion or, hysteria on the part of the adults or, is this a sign of the complacency and apathy of the younger generation – who much like the daughter who is only concerned about finishing a television series – are completely consumed and owned by media and the content they absorb. Is this a sign of complete brainwashing of the younger generations?
Fifth Theme : Revealing two Methods for Disarming a Nation
Could this theme be anymore self explanatory? The first “Emergency Warning” method, we’ve already seen with the Governments overreach and use of Emergency Use Authorization to implement policies that would be illegal outside of the state of Emergencies. The second is a shutdown of the power grid – which would obviously disable communications and access to heat, battery power, hot water and anything else powered by our use of Energy connected to the power / electrical grids. It is important to note that this is an Unrecognized Emergency Warning in much the same way that the Coronavirus was referred to as an “Invisible” enemy.
Sixth Theme: Alien vs. Foreign (Use of Fear) Cause Unknown
In the above shots from the film, communities have lost complete trust with one another and view not only outside countries as foreign threats but also view their neighbors as enemies or, possible alien threats.
Let us not forget that if a population cannot identify the source of their distress or fear (much like the hysteria around Covid-19) they will be quick to blame anyone and anything. Additionally, it is worth being aware of an important book released on 11/9/2022 by former Blackrock analyst, Ed Dowd titled, “Cause Unknown”: The Epidemic of Sudden Deaths in 2021 & 2022. Was this film a recounting of what took place during Covid? Is it also an expansion of the usage of the same methods through different means? (Emergency, Lockdown, Unknown Cause, Never-ending Fear, Panic, Hysteria and Lies)
Seventh Theme: Revelation of the Military Program to Destroy a Nation from Within
The character of GH Scott claims to have worked in the Defense sector and becoming aware of a Cost-Benefit Analysis of a Military Campaign. “A three stage maneuver that could topple a countries government from within”
The Military Program is defined as follows:
- Isolation – Disable Communication and Transportation – Make the Target as deaf, dumb and blind as possible
- Synchronized Chaos – Terrorize them with Covert attacks and Misinformation. Overwhelming their defense capabilities. Without a Clear Enemy or Motive, people will start turning on each other.
- If done successfully, the 3rd stage will happen on its own. Civil War. Collapse.
It is important to note how many of these types of tactics may have already been used in soft ways during the Covid 19 pandemic. Lockdown (Isolation) Synchronized Chaos (Misinformation and Terror of Virus / Vaccine). People divided against one another.
Eighth Theme: The Last Warning as Friends?
Is this film – which is clearly a message and a revelation of method – the last warning as Friends?
Additional Symbolism and Notes
This post is a work in progress, however, I want to draw attention to the below imagery, plot points and meanings that may be of significance in reaching a definitive analysis of the film:
A Nation Frozen in Fear and Panic In Darkness
We Disarm Ourselves – Pulling out our own Teeth. Younger Generation not a Threat
Will we be controlled through messaging via the Emergency Alert System?
One of the main Characters’ name is George Washington Scott. Is this a reference to the seat of the Presidency no longer being occupied by the rightful occupant?
There is also a clear reference to an evil cabal running things behind the scenes – perhaps the intuitions of conspiracy theorists have always been right?
The idea of an evil cabal also ties into the idea of why the elites have been constructing bunkers and the final scene sees the girl finding the bunker.
A female is necessary to reproduce the species – is there a relevance to have the girl being safe at the end of the film?
